In 2004 Britney sang Toxic and we blagged our way into clubs with fake IDs, sculled pints and Bacardi Breezers and the future was rosy. By 2008 everything had changed.

While we were busy growing up, someone broke the economy. I mean ffs sake what just happened to our future?!

Toxic is a fast-paced, large cast play set in post-boom, economic crash Dublin. Performed in 2011 by an ensemble of emerging actors from the Gaiety School and including a jukebox karaoke pop vibe, the play explores the impact of limited options and where public ethics meet personal morality.

“…there was so much energy, like before a storm; the air was crackling with it. And I thought, we’re all just animals, there is no right and wrong.”
