The Oasis is a fantastical and slightly down at heel Dublin hotel. Its clientele are long-standing and faithful as are its loyal staff, but nothing stays the same forever. When the owner drops dead, and the sharks begin to circle will The Oasis survive?

We commissioned Michelle and produced The Oasis for our graduating students at Gaiety School of Acting in 2024. It went down a storm with audiences, the students loved doing it. I think it is one of the most successful drama school plays I have seen for a larger cast. It manages to make the roles very evenly balanced, each with their own fulfilling story arc, without sacrificing anything to the integrity of the play. Funny (very) and moving, it also has music built in without being a musical.

Will Wollen, director GSA

The play has 17 roles: 8F, 8M and 1NB. These were written for the nationalities and gender identities of the original cast and may be adapted to suit different groups.

The running time is just under 90mins.
